FCSM 2020 Fall Conference FAQs

1.      Will the BLS conference center be open by September 21st, 2020?

Answer. We do not know. For planning purposes, we are preparing for both an on-site event and a virtual one. That will allow us to hold a smaller in-person conference in the event if it is safe and feasible to do so. If the BLS conference center is not open for this type of event, the conference will be 100% virtual.

2.      I was planning on giving a talk at the April 2020 conference, what do I do now?

Answer. Unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate all presenters in the smaller, fall event. If you’ve not been asked to participate your presentation is not on the program.

We encourage you to look for other opportunities to share your work. Perhaps you want to work with the other speakers in your session and offer it as a webinar. Or maybe your work could be showcased at an internal event at your company. We have shared the program with WSS and DC-AAPOR and encouraged them to develop new events.

3.   Can I list the paper that I was scheduled at the April to give on my CV or resume?

Answer.   You can list the paper that you were scheduled to present as “Accepted for presentation at the 2020 FCSM Research and Policy Conference (Paper not presented because of COVID-19).”

4.      Will my registration be automatically refunded?

Answer.   No. It will automatically be transferred to the fall event. If you’re unable to attend the fall event, you’ll be able to easily transfer your registration to a colleague

5.      I was already registered for the April event, what do I need to do now?

Answer.   Nothing at this point. Your registration will be automatically transferred to the fall event. Information on transferred registrations and logistics will be available soon.

6.      I had not yet registered for the April conference but want to attend the fall event, what do I do.

Answer.   Information on registration for the fall event will be posted on FCSM2020.org this summer.

7.       I have more questions, who do I ask?

Answer.  Please email fcsm@copafs.org with any other questions.
